Varieties of Tokens of the Kryvyi Rih Express Tram (Metrotram)

Author: Andrii Tarasov Language: Russian Kryvyi Rih, 2011. 27 pp. 📥 Download PDF This work attempts to classify the tokens of the Kryvyi Rih express tram. The author identifies the main features used to distinguish token varieties. The Kryvyi Rih express tram is a hybrid metro and tram system (metrotram) opened in 1986. At first, 5-kopeck coins were used to pay the fare; later, special tokens made of bright orange transparent plastic were introduced, produced in Kharkiv. The first tokens bore the inscription "Shvydkisnyi tramvai Kryvyi Rih" ("Kryvyi Rih Express Tram") and the small state coat of arms of Ukraine, while later ones carried an advertisement for the INKO joint-stock bank. These later tokens became the subject of the search for varieties. The identification of varieties was based on H. Gambarian's articles on the production technology of Kharkiv tokens. The author found all 33 pairs of moulds in which these tokens were made. The publication is intended for token collectors.
